Robert Lewandowski Shuts Down Age Talk: I Still Feel in Excellent Condition

2 Min Read

Robert Lewandowski isn’t having any of the age talk. The 36-year-old striker, who continues to lead the line for Barcelona, has brushed aside questions about slowing down. Speaking recently, he admitted that people sometimes use his age against him, but he doesn’t see himself fading anytime soon. Lewandowski said:

I’m not saying I’m a victim of my age, but there are those who exploit that. I feel in excellent condition.

His comments, which Fabrizio Romano shared on his official X account, came after Barça’s 4–1 defeat to Sevilla, a tough night that hardly reflected his personal form.

Even at 36, Lewandowski looks sharp and focused. He mentioned that his biological age is closer to 30, which makes sense when you watch him move or press high up the pitch. He’s still scoring, linking up, and guiding younger players much like he did in the comeback win against Real Sociedad.

It’s clear that his work ethic and professionalism haven’t changed, even if his approach to games has. He said:

I don’t expect to play 90 minutes every match. My view of football has changed a bit, but when I’m on the field, I know I can do great.

The Polish captain said he’s learnt to listen to his body more, understanding when to rest and when to push. Last season, Lewandowski scored 42 goals in 52 matches for Barcelona, numbers that prove he’s far from finished. He added:

I’ve won more than 30 titles, but I’m ready for more.

Even in setbacks, like Barça’s Champions League loss to PSG, Lewandowski’s hunger is obvious. He’s older, maybe, but definitely not done.
