Flick Offers Injury Update on Yamal Ahead of Barcelona’s El Clásico Clash with Real Madrid

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an update on Lamine Yamal’s fitness after the winger’s groin problem resurfaced following the game against PSG, Softfootball reports.

Yamal sustained a groin injury in September while with Spain that had kept him out of training. Flick had also admitted that his injury is not very easy to heal from and doubts that he would make it back in the speculated 2 or 3 weeks.

The club via its official media released a statement about Yamal’s injury situation. The reads:

The groin problem for Lamine Yamal has returned following the game against PSG. The player will miss the game against Sevilla and his recovery time is estimated at 2-3 weeks.

The Barça number 10 has made five appearances this season for FC Barcelona, four in the league and one in the Champions League, scoring two goals and providing three assists. The groin problem has caused him to miss four games this season.

While addressing the media, Hansi Flick revealed that he has spoken to Yamal about his recovery. He also emphasized the need for patience noting that Yamal’s fitness remains the club’s top priority.

There is no doubt that the 18-year-old has been one of the most energetic players for Barcelona this season. However, the club’s medical team has not relented in the tracking of his health progress.

But Barcelona Coach’s statement has suggested that the possibility of the young winger participating in the match against Real Madrid isn’t guaranteed. Yamal might also be absent in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers for Spain against Georgia and Bulgaria.
