AC Milan return to Serie A action this weekend with a heavyweight clash against defending champions Napoli at San Siro. Massimiliano Allegri’s men arrive in strong form after three consecutive league wins and midweek Coppa Italia progress, while Antonio Conte’s visitors are protecting their perfect start to the title defence, Softfootball reports.
For Milan, momentum is finally swinging in their favour. A third straight clean-sheet victory in Udine last weekend underlined their recovery from an opening-round defeat, with suspended coach Massimiliano Allegri forced to watch from the stands. Luka Modrić marked his arrival in Milan colours with his first goal for the club against Bologna and the Croatian veteran will be eager to add to his tally as the Rossoneri chase a fourth successive Serie A win for the first time since 2020.

Encouragingly, Milan’s defence looks back to its best, but Napoli have been a thorn in their side in recent years. The champions did the double over Milan last season, and the Rossoneri have managed just one victory in their last eight home league meetings against the Partenopei

Napoli, meanwhile, have been relentless. A 3-2 win over newcomers Pisa on a night where midfielder Scott McTominay finished in the top 20 of the Ballon D’or rankings, made it four victories from four to start their title defence, their best opening since 2021/22.
Conte’s men also boast Europe’s longest current unbeaten run in the top five leagues , built on a rock-solid defence that has kept four clean sheets in their last five away games. Even more daunting is their long-term away record: just one defeat in 20 Serie A trips, conceding only 12 goals in that stretch.

Key players could decide the contest. For Milan, Christian Pulisic’s red-hot form continues with three goals and one assist in his last two matches, while Modrić’s growing influence adds another layer of quality in midfield. For Napoli, Lorenzo Lucca got off the mark with his first goal in the last round, and he has a knack for scoring in matches where both teams find the net. In terms of injuries, Milan are still without Rafael Leão, while Napoli will miss Alessandro Buongiorno.
