Outgoing Real Madrid manager Álvaro Arbeloa is on the verge of becoming the new Fulham head coach, Softfootball can confirm. The move follows his departure from Real Madrid, where he has been replaced by José Mourinho, marking the end of Arbeloa’s tenure and the beginning of a new chapter in his managerial career.

Fulham, who have been assessing several profiles ahead of the 2026/27 season, now consider Arbeloa their leading candidate, with negotiations progressing positively.

At the same time, there are strong indications that Arbeloa is also viewed as a favourite in the wider European managerial market, particularly in relation to AC Milan’s ongoing search for a new head coach.

Softfootball understands that Milan’s shortlist remains competitive. Former Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim and Matthias Jaissle currently head coach of Saudi Pro League side Al‑Ahli are both tipped as major contenders to take over at San Siro.
