Manchester United have confirmed that goalkeeper André Onana has completed a loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor for the 2025/26 season, subject to international clearance and registration, Softfootball reports.
The deal was quick and fast between Onana’s camp and Trabzonspor, which could be as a result of the fallout of the goalkeeper with Ruben Amorim, who had purchased a replacement in goal, leaving the Cameroonian no choice but to opt for a fresh challenge in Turkey.
Trabzonspor finalised the deal just before the close of the Turkish transfer window on Friday, securing the experienced shot-stopper for the entirety of the season. As gathered by Softfootball, Onana’s loan deal runs until June 2026 and includes no loan fee or buy option.

The 29-year-old Cameroon international departs Old Trafford having featured 102 times for the Reds since arriving from Inter Milan in July 2023. During his debut season in Manchester, Onana was part of the squad that lifted the Emirates FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over rivals Manchester City at Wembley under former manager Erik Ten Hag.
United, in their official statement via its club website, extended their best wishes to the Cameroonian:
We would like to wish André good luck for his loan spell in Turkey.
Although no loan fee has been agreed, Trabzonspor have enticed André Onana with a substantial signing-on bonus and performance-based incentives. Factoring in Turkey’s flat 20% tax rate, the Cameroonian is expected to earn well above his current £100,000-per-week wages at Manchester United.
Onana, whose contract at Old Trafford runs until 2027, views the financial terms as significant, particularly in light of his personal commitments, including supporting initiatives through the André Onana Foundation.
From a sporting perspective, the loan move provides the 29-year-old with consistent game time ahead of December’s Africa Cup of Nations, where he is anticipated to play a central role for Cameroon.
