Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is getting closer to a move to Olympique Marseille. Softfootball understands that negotiations between the two clubs are said to be in advanced stages. The deal is said to be a loan agreement with an obligation to buy, is expected to become permanent in the summer of 2026.
It was earlier reported that Marseille identified Ceballos as a priority signing to bolster their midfield following Adrien Rabiot’s possible departure, as the Frenchman has been the subject of interest, especially from England.

Reports suggest the French side are really pressing to finalise the deal quickly, and the Spaniard himself is open to the move. Ceballos has already given his blessings, seeing Marseille as an opportunity to secure regular minutes and strengthen his case for Spain’s 2026 World Cup squad.
However, the only issue is the transfer fee. Marseille are reportedly willing to offer between €12 and €15 million, while Real Madrid are holding out for a minimum of €15 million. Despite the differences, both clubs remain optimistic that an agreement can be reached.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Marseille have been in direct talks with the 28-year-old for several hours. On his official X account, he posted:
“The agreement between Real Madrid and Olympique Marseille for Dani Ceballos is very close now after new talks in the last 5h. Details to sort on loan with obligation to buy… and then OM hope to seal Ceballos deal very soon.”
Ceballos fueled speculation of his exit with a cryptic post on social media after facing Real Oviedo, writing “The last dance.” Although the deal is progressing, it is not yet sealed. Marseille are reportedly keeping backup options, including Benfica’s Florentino Luís, in case negotiations with Real Madrid stall.
