Manchester United are preparing fresh talks with Brighton over midfielder Carlos Baleba, as they look to step up their summer transfer business.
According to the information gathered by Softfootball, United believe the 20-year-old is open to the move, with personal terms not expected to be a stumbling block.
Ruben Amorim’s side, who had just clinched the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, are very interested in bringing in a more tactical and younger player to the defensive midfield, who has the duo of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte.

However, negotiations with Brighton are expected to be challenging, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on his X handle. The South Coast Club values the Cameroon-born midfielder highly after an impressive first full Premier League season and is reluctant to sanction his departure.
Fabrizio wrote on his X handle:
“Manchester United plan for new talks for Carlos Baleba in the upcoming days.
“Man United believe Baleba is keen on the move and personal terms won’t be an issue.
“Contacts follow on Brighton side as deal remains very difficult, but United will try.”
Baleba, who joined Brighton from Lille in 2023, has been praised for his composure on the ball, ability to break lines, and defensive work rate traits that align with Ruben Amorim’s tactical demands. His arrival would add depth alongside Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount, particularly with United facing a congested fixture schedule.
Talks are expected to resume in the coming days as United explore ways to convince Brighton to negotiate, with the player’s willingness seen as a significant boost to their hopes.
