Liverpool are stepping up their interest in Alexander Isak after reaching an agreement to sell Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich. The Colombian winger is expected to join the German champions in a €75 million (£65.5m) deal, signing a four-year contract at Allianz Arena.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are now shifting their focus to Newcastle United’s Isak and are ready to make a record-breaking bid.
Romano wrote via his official X account:
“Liverpool are prepared to go big for Alexander Isak after Luis Diaz sale done. Isak, keen on the move and not even in talks with Saudi clubs. Only Liverpool. Up to Newcastle now, with #LFC waiting but ready to enter strong with record proposal.”
The Swedish forward is believed to be open to the move and has reportedly communicated his desire to leave Newcastle this summer. He was not part of the club’s pre-season tour to Asia, and manager Eddie Howe has ruled out his return to the squad in the coming days.
Despite Al-Hilal offering a staggering £130 million fee and a weekly salary of £600,000, Isak prefers to remain in Europe. Liverpool are leading the race, with Chelsea and Manchester United trailing due to either recent attacking signings or financial constraints.

Earlier in the window, Softfootball reported that Liverpool secured Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, which was thought to end their pursuit of another forward. However, Diaz’s departure has reignited their interest in bolstering the frontline, and with the unfortunate passing of Diogo Jota leaving an attacking void, Liverpool still needs to fill it.
Newcastle reportedly value Isak at £120 million, and the total package could rise to £150 million potentially surpassing Liverpool’s recent British transfer record of £116.5 million for Florian Wirtz.
Since joining Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022, Isak has scored 62 goals and provided 11 assists in 109 appearances. He netted 27 goals and recorded six assists in the 2024–25 season alone.
