Cunha not fazed by pressure at Manchester United

Brazilian forward, Matheus Cunha has declared that he is not perturbed by the pressures of playing for a huge club like Manchester United, Softfootball reports.

The 26-year-old joined the Red Devils from Wolves this summer for £62.5million after scoring 15 Premier League goals last season.

Ahead of his second match for Manchester United against West Ham in the United States as part of pre-season, Cunha said during a press conference via the club’s website that he is embarrassing the challenge at his new club.

He said:

“I really think the pressure at this club is a privilege.

“It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world and when Ruben came to me and showed me the project, I felt like it’s a challenge I want to do for my career.

“United is a club I needed to be at, and like I say it’s a big privilege.”

Cunha resumed Pre-season with Manchester United on July 7, 2025 and was involved in the first friendly that ended goalless against Leeds United at Stockholm, playing the first 45 minutes of that encounter.

The Brazilian is expected to start alongside fellow new signing Bryan Mbeumo against the Hammers on Sunday. Cunha so far is enjoying life at Manchester United.

He explained:

“When I arrived, I had a good welcome.

“These kind of things can help you a lot, to make you feel part of the group. Everything I can bring to help the team go forward, I’m very humble to do. I feel completely fine.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United, Ruben Amorim while talking about his three new signings so far this season, Diego Leon, Bryan Mbeumo and Cunha hinted that the Brazilian has the ability to play in different positions.

Amorim said:

“Diego is a different situation as he is a potential player but, with Bryan and Matheus, we are clearly a better team.

“It’s really important to sign new players as soon as possible. I’m really pleased because they [Cunha and Mbeumo] are proven already in the Premier League.

“Matheus, for example, can play in different positions, so you have more mobility to change the starting XI. I’m really pleased.”

After West Ham, Man United will face Bournemouth, Everton and Fiorentina before the start of the new Premier League season where they will host Arsenal on August 17 at Old Trafford.
