Softfootball has reliably learned that Manchester United have reached a full agreement with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo, with the Cameroonian winger set to become the club’s third summer signing.
After protracted negotiations with Softfootball reporting it was facing a snag 24 hours ago, United has finally grabbed one of their summer targets.
According to Fabrizio Romano on X, the deal is worth up to £71 million, an initial £65m to be paid in four instalments, plus up to £6m in performance-related add-ons. It marks a major win for the Old Trafford side, who fended off competition from Tottenham, Arsenal, and Newcastle to land the 25-year-old.

United had been locked in talks with Brentford throughout July, gradually increasing their offer after opening with a package worth £45m. That was swiftly rejected, as was a second bid of £55m plus £7.5m in bonuses.
But with Brentford holding out for more than the £62.5m fee United paid Wolves for Matheus Cunha earlier this summer, the breakthrough finally came with a £65m + £6m structure.
Mbeumo made his preference clear weeks ago, informing Brentford and other suitors that he would only leave West London for Manchester United. United then accelerated negotiations following an internal meeting between club executives during their Iceland summit in mid-July.

The former Troyes man is coming off a stellar campaign, having played all 38 league matches last season, scoring 20 goals and delivering 8 assists as Brentford secured a top-half finish.
A product of Troyes’ academy, Mbeumo joined Brentford in 2019 and helped the Bees win promotion to the Premier League in 2021. In total, he’s racked up 242 appearances, with 70 goals and 51 assists across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are seeking to get a new goalkeeper as competition for Andre Onana. Softfootball recounted United’s activity in signing the young goalkeeper, Senne Lammens, from Belgium.
The 21-year-old Belgian has emerged as a concrete target for United, with the club’s recruitment team identifying him as a long-term addition with the potential to compete for a first-team role in the future. The goalkeeper played 40 games for the Belgian side and recorded nine clean sheets, in which he saved four out of eight penalties.
