Softfootball has gathered that former Liverpool player Emile Heskey has urged the Reds to consider Anthony Gordon as a replacement for Luis Diaz, who is on the verge of leaving the club.
Emile Heskey encouraged Liverpool to pursue Anthony Gordon as a potential replacement for Luis Díaz, should either the Bayern Munich or Barcelona deal come through during the summer.
Heskey, who spent four seasons between 2000-2004 at Anfield, playing 150 games and scoring 39 goals, gave his idea on what Liverpool should focus on ahead of next season.

Speaking to BestBettingSites.co.uk exclusively, former Liverpool striker Heskey noted that the club must remain pragmatic if a substantial offer arrives, saying that
“If Bayern Munich step up and are paying the right price, then I think it has to be considered. Everyone is available if the price is right.
“It would be decent business if they could get a good offer and move him on but the next thing to consider is who replaces him.”
While Liverpool has already been active in the transfer market, the departure of Díaz would likely prompt another attacking addition. For Heskey, he said Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United stands out as the ideal successor.
He added that,
“One player I like is Anthony Gordon he’d be a great option.
“He gives you width, gets to the byline, and understands how to beat his man. He’s a bit of a throwback, but his direct dribbling gets fans off their seats.”

Díaz, who played a key role in Liverpool’s Premier League title triumph last season, has drawn firm interest from both Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The Reds have already turned down a formal bid of £58.6 million from Bayern while rebuffing earlier advances from the Spanish giants.
Despite valuing the 28-year-old at €100 million (£86.8m) and maintaining no urgent need to sell, Liverpool are believed to be assessing their long-term options, particularly given Díaz’s openness to a fresh challenge, with two years left on his current deal.
Aside from Diaz, who has been on the verge of leaving the club, Ibrahim Konate has also been drawn to Real Madrid. As reported by Softfootball earlier, Liverpool has slapped a £43.5m fee on the French defender.
The France international has been a rock for the Reds since he arrived at the club and played a massive role as they won their 20th league title last season.
Liverpool reportedly explored a deal for Gordon last summer but failed to reach an agreement. The England international, also on Arsenal’s radar, registered six goals and five assists in the league last season and remains admired for his dynamism and verticality on the left flank.
