Heinze, a former Argentina international, brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the club.

We are excited with the introduction of Gabriel to our men’s first-team coaching staff, and welcome him and his family to Arsenal.

Heinze who was Mikel Arteta’s teammate back in their days of wearing Paris St. Germain jersey, spent three years, 2004-2007 at Old Trafford winning the Premier League title; his only trophy at the club.

The Argentine did also play for Real Madrid for 2 years, 2007-2009 winning the La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup. He also graced the pitch for Sporting Lisbon, Olympique Marseille, AS Roma and Valladolid.

He won the UEFA Intertoto Cup with PSG in 2001, the Ligue 1 and the Coup de la Ligue twice with Marseille between 2009 and 2011.

After hanging his boot, Heinze went into coaching in 2015 and has managed 5 different teams all in the Americas winning the Primera B Nacional in 2017 with Argentinos Juniors. This will be Heinze first job out of the America since becoming a coach.

Heinze comes in with the influx of new players coming into the Arsenal this summer. Softfootball had reported the arrival of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and in the early hours of Tuesday confirmed the signing of Christian Norgaard by the Gunners.

Arsenal are advancing in their hunger to add quality to the squad ahead of next season as the Gunners have sealed the deal to sign Brentford captain, Christian Norgaard.

In the early hours of Tuesday, it was reported that Norgaard’s switch to the Emirates Stadium is to be finalised after Brentford accepted Arsenal’s offers and clear the player to join after medicals have passed and papers have been signed.
