Son Heung-min remains focused on Tottenham amidst LA interests.

Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min is set to reject interest from Los Angeles FC this summer, but the South Korean forward continues to attract strong attention from clubs in Saudi Arabia, with his long-term future in north London far from certain, Softfootball can report.

Son, 32, has now entered the final year of his contract at Tottenham. While no talks have yet begun over a potential extension, the forward is understood to be keeping all options open but will only consider a move that aligns with both his personal ambitions and footballing values.

Despite reported interest from MLS side LAFC as reported by Mirror.co.uk, sources close to the player indicate Son will not be pursuing a move to the United States at this stage of his career. While he appreciates the project presented by the Californian club, he remains focused on competing at the highest level and believes he still has more to give in elite European football.

Son is coming off a landmark season at Tottenham, having lifted his first trophy in a Spurs shirt with the club’s dramatic Europa League final win over Athletic Bilbao in May. The victory ended his ten-year wait for silverware in north London, and while it capped a significant chapter, it has also opened up fresh questions about what lies ahead.

A number of clubs in the Saudi Pro League have already made initial approaches for Son, with Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr among those monitoring his situation. With his contract expiring in June 2026 and a current weekly wage of £200,000, the forward represents a high-profile yet affordable target for the ambitious Saudi sides aiming to strengthen their attacking options with proven European stars.

Sources within the club, however, maintain that Tottenham has not received any formal offers, and new manager Thomas Frank is believed to be keen on keeping Son as part of his leadership group heading into the new campaign.

The Danish coach values Son’s experience, professionalism, and impact both on and off the pitch and has already held preliminary conversations with the forward since he arrived at Hotspur Way. A Spurs official, who spoke anonymously, stated the following,

“Son is not only one of our most talented players, he is the heart of this football club,”

He also added,

“The manager wants him involved, and we know how much he means to the fans.”

While Son is understood to be open to exploring a new challenge, he is not prepared to make a move solely for financial reasons. The Saudi offers, though lucrative, will only be considered if the sporting project is compelling enough. For now, the forward remains committed to Tottenham’s pre-season plans and will return to training this week as scheduled.

Having joined Spurs in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen, Son has gone on to become one of the club’s greatest-ever signings, scoring 162 goals in 397 appearances and winning the Premier League Golden Boot in 2022.

His influence remains significant on and off the pitch, particularly with the club preparing for a return to the UEFA Champions League next season following their Europa League triumph over Manchester City last season.

Softfootball has earlier reported that Tottenham are likely to make their first signing this weekend as intense negotiations continue with the camp of Mohammed Kudus and Christian Norgaard. Tottenham Hotspur are yet to officially announce any new signings this summer.

There have been behind-the-scenes movements to bolster the squad ahead of a demanding 2025/26 campaign. But according to London Football, the North London-based side has been making moves to bring in Kudus as needed by Thomas Frank ahead of the new season.
