Tragedy struck this morning as news filtered in that Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota has reportedly died in an accident.
Softfootball gathered that the 28-year-old who just got married to his heartthrob Route Cardoso exactly 10 days ago, was in the car with his brother Andre at the time of the incident.
According to Spanish publication Marcia, both Jota and the brother died in the car crash. The accident was said to have happened on the A52, near the municipality of Palacios de Sanabria.
So far, there has been no official statement from Liverpool as regards the tragedy. But fans across the world are super worried and sad at the news.
Jota was part of the Liverpool side that won a historic 20th Premier League title last season and has been a mainstay at the club since he joined the Reds from Wolves for £41million in 2020.
Softfootball had earlier reported that Jota got married 10 days ago before the sad news of the car crash. The Liverpool attacker got married on June 22, 2025 with partner Cardoso. They have three children together.
