Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, Elma Aveiro, has sent another cryptic message on social media following the Portugal captain’s decision to leave the national team camp.

Elma wrote on Instagram:
Betrayal is a dish best served cold, and what goes around comes around. The only way is the way forward.
The post comes amid growing attention surrounding Ronaldo’s sudden departure from Portugal’s camp.
The situation escalated after Ronaldo was left on the bench during Portugal’s 2-1 UEFA Nations League victory over Norway. Head coach Jorge Jesus later addressed the decision and confirmed that Ronaldo would not start the upcoming game against Denmark.
Ronaldo subsequently announced that he had decided to leave the national team camp following Jesus’ press conference and a conversation with Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner did not reveal the full details behind his decision but promised to explain his reasons at a later date.
“In due course, I will tell the truth to all the Portuguese people about the reasons that led me to leave the national team,”
Ronaldo said in his statement, while also wishing Portugal and his teammates good luck.
Softfootball understands that Elma’s latest post has added another layer to the controversy, although she did not specifically identify who she was referring to as “betrayal.”
The incident has sparked considerable discussion around Ronaldo’s relationship with the Portugal setup and his future with the national team. For now, the veteran forward has chosen not to disclose his full account, leaving supporters waiting for the promised explanation.
Ronaldo remains Portugal’s all-time leading goalscorer and most-capped player, making his sudden departure a major talking point around the national team.
