Manuel Neuer has hinted that the 2026-27 season could be his final campaign with Bayern Munich.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper remains under contract until 2027 and has previously indicated that he is reluctant to extend his stay beyond his current agreement. Neuer’s latest comments suggest he wants to focus on enjoying what could be his final season at the Allianz Arena.

However, the situation is complicated by the fact that Neuer agreed a renewal with Bayern on May 13, 2026. Softfootball understands that the veteran goalkeeper has not officially confirmed that he intends to retire or leave the club once his current contract expires.

Neuer has been a key figure at Bayern since joining from Schalke 04 on June 1, 2011. Over 15 years in Munich, he has established himself as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the club’s history, winning numerous Bundesliga titles, domestic cups and the Champions League.

At 40, questions over his long-term future are increasingly understandable, but his continued performances have allowed Bayern to rely on his experience between the posts.

For now, Neuer appears determined to enjoy the 2026-27 campaign rather than look too far ahead
