Liverpool have intensified their interest in highly-rated youngster Ibrahima Mbaye, with the Premier League club now in direct contact with the player’s representative, Jorge Mendes.

Although Paris Saint-Germain and Bayer Leverkusen maintain an excellent relationship and have already opened discussions over Mbaye, Liverpool are working to convince the player with their long-term project. No official offer has been submitted at this stage, but the Reds remain firmly in the race for his signature.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola continues to gather momentum, with official club-to-club negotiations now underway with Paris Saint-Germain.

Earlier, Softfootball reported that Liverpool were preparing to submit their opening bid for the French winger after leading the race for his signature since April.

Liverpool have since tabled an opening proposal worth more than €100 million. However, the bid remains well below PSG’s valuation, meaning further negotiations will be required before an agreement can be reached.

Despite the gap in valuation, discussions between the two clubs remain active as Liverpool continue their push to strengthen their attacking options.
