The transfer had already been agreed before the summer window, with the Blues announcing that the 21-year-old has signed a long-term contract running until 2033.
Earlier in May 2026, Softfootball reported that Chelsea had reached an agreement with RC Strasbourg Alsace for Barco’s transfer, with the move expected to be completed once the final paperwork was finalised.
At the time, the transfer fee had not yet been disclosed as negotiations were still being concluded.
Barco’s arrival further strengthens Chelsea’s midfield options ahead of the new season and increases competition for places alongside Enzo Fernández, Roméo Lavia and Moisés Caicedo as the club prepares for another demanding campaign.
