Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has emphasized the need for intense preparation ahead of their Copa del Rey semifinal first leg against Atletico Madrid.
The German coach acknowledged the strength of Diego Simeone’s side, noting their significant investment in top-tier defenders and attackers.
Softfootball reports that Flick views the tie as a fresh challenge requiring full focus from his squad. He said:
It’s a new game, we’re starting from scratch. Atlético is a great team, they’ve invested. They have the best defenders, attackers… it will be a tough game.
The Barcelona boss praised his team’s current mentality and the supportive atmosphere at the club as key assets heading into the fixture.

A major concern for Flick is the fitness of Lamine Yamal, who suffered an injury during the recent victory over Las Palmas. While the teenager remains a doubt for the match, Flick expressed optimism based on medical assessments. He added:
We’ll have to wait and see if he can play, but I see the situation as positive given what the doctor has said. And we want him with us.
Barcelona will hope to secure a strong result at home to carry into the second leg in Madrid.
