Softfootball can confirm Chelsea have expressed interest in signing France international Theo Hernández as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
The Blues have already held preliminary talks with the left-back’s representatives to explore the possibility of a summer move, although discussions remain at an early stage.
Theo has emerged as another defensive option under Xabi Alonso as Chelsea continue evaluating reinforcements across multiple positions.
The latest development comes after Chelsea reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign experienced striker Danny Welbeck. The 35-year-old has agreed personal terms on a contract until June 2028 and is set to complete his medical before the move is finalised.
Chelsea are also set to complete the signing of Jordan Henderson after the former Liverpool captain agreed a two-year contract running until June 2028 following the termination of his Brentford contract.

With Welbeck and Henderson nearing completion, Chelsea are now turning their attention to further strengthening the defence, with Theo Hernández emerging as one of the club’s leading targets.
Negotiations remain in the early stages, but Chelsea’s interest in the French defender is genuine as the Blues continue reshaping Xabi Alonso’s squad for the 2026/27 campaign.
