Real Madrid have made their first approach to Manchester City for Rodri, with verbal discussions now underway between the two clubs.

Earlier, Softfootball confirmed that Los Blancos were actively working on a deal for Rodri and believed the midfielder could arrive this summer. While Pérez had initially blocked the move, the latest developments suggest the club have now reopened the pursuit.

We understands negotiations have officially begun after months of inactivity, marking a significant shift in Real Madrid’s stance.

Club president Florentino Pérez has now given the green light to pursue the Spain international after previously ruling out a move despite Rodri’s reported interest in joining the Spanish giants.

Real Madrid have indicated they are prepared to spend more than €50 million as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.

Manchester City, however, remain determined to keep one of their most influential players and are hopeful Rodri will remain at the Etihad Stadium, regardless of whether he signs a new contract.

Talks are still at an early stage, with further negotiations expected as Real Madrid attempt to convince Manchester City to sanction the transfer.
