Serie A giants Juventus have entered the race to sign Chelsea defender Renato Veiga during the January transfer window.

The Italian club have reportedly opened discussions with Chelsea over a possible move for the versatile 21-year-old, who has struggled to secure regular playing time at Stamford Bridge.

Veiga joined Chelsea from Basel last summer for around £12 million but has made just one Premier League start this season.

According to Softfootball, Borussia Dortmund also remain interested in the Portuguese international after reportedly making an offer for his services.

Veiga is believed to be open to leaving Chelsea on loan for the remainder of the season rather than making a permanent move away from the club.

The defender has mainly been used as a left-back despite preferring to operate in central defence, where competition for places is also strong.

His lack of opportunities has reportedly increased his frustration, with the player keen to secure regular football and play in his preferred position.

Chelsea must now decide whether to allow Veiga to leave temporarily as interest from Juventus and Dortmund continues to grow.
