Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has confirmed that teenage winger Lamine Yamal will be available for selection ahead of Saturday’s La Liga clash against Las Palmas, ending a spell on the sidelines with an ankle problem.
Yamal has been out since early November, a period in which Barcelona picked up just one point from the two league matches he missed. Softfootball understands that his return comes at a crucial time as the club looks to maintain its position at the top of the table.
Addressing reporters on Friday, Flick confirmed the winger’s availability:
Lamine Yamal is back and he’s ready to play. We haven’t decided yet if he’ll start, but he will play.
The German tactician stopped short of guaranteeing a starting spot but made clear Yamal is fully fit to feature.
The 17-year-old has scored six goals and provided eight assists in 16 appearances across all competitions this season.
Barcelona currently sit four points clear of Real Madrid, though the defending champions have a game in hand over Flick’s side.
