The Super Falcons wrapped up their international friendly double-header against Algeria in style with a commanding 4-1 victory at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Tuesday.

After recording a 2-0 win in the first meeting last weekend, interim coach Justine Madugu’s side produced another impressive attacking display to complete a successful international break.

Softfootball understands that Edo Queens forward Folashade Ijamilusi stole the spotlight with a superb hat-trick, underlining her growing importance to the national team.

Nigeria made a bright start to the encounter, with Ijamilusi opening the scoring before doubling the Super Falcons’ advantage just seven minutes later to put the hosts firmly in control.

Algeria had an opportunity to get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty in the 39th minute, but they failed to convert from the spot.

The visitors eventually pulled one back through Alouache Ouassila two minutes before halftime, but Gift Monday restored Nigeria’s two-goal cushion on the stroke of halftime with a well-taken finish.

Ijamilusi completed her memorable evening four minutes from full-time, sealing her hat-trick and capping a dominant performance from the nine-time African champions.

The convincing victory provided another encouraging result for Madugu as he continues to rebuild the Super Falcons following their disappointing outing at the Paris Olympics, while also giving several players the chance to impress ahead of future international competitions.
