The Super Eagles have completed their first training session in Nizhny Novgorod ahead of their international friendly against Russia on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

The Nigerian team arrived in Russia on Saturday, October 3, with several new faces included in the squad for the friendly.

Among the new players is John Otomewo, who was called up to replace Wilfred Ndidi, alongside Vince Chijioke Osuji and Ibraheem Mafus Ajasa, who are also among the fresh faces in the squad.
However, reports indicate that not all the invited players have arrived in camp yet, with more members of the squad expected to join the team ahead of the clash.
The ongoing preparations have given the Super Eagles captain and coaching staff an opportunity to begin assessing the available players as Nigeria steps up preparations for the friendly against Russia.
The encounter in Nizhny Novgorod will provide another opportunity for the Super Eagles to test their squad and give some of the newer players valuable international experience.
