Softfootball gathered that Oliver Glasner has verbally agreed a three-year contract to become the new head coach of Nottingham Forest FC, with discussions also covering the club’s transfer plans ahead of the new season.

The Austrian manager is set to replace Vítor Pereira at the City Ground after departing Crystal Palace, where he enjoyed a successful spell. Glasner guided Palace to the UEFA Europa Conference League title following the club’s historic FA Cup triumph in 2025, enhancing his reputation as one of the Premier League’s most respected tacticians.

A former defender, Glasner spent the majority of his playing career with SV Ried, winning the Austrian Cup in both 1998 and 2011 before moving into management. His coaching career has been defined by tactical flexibility, strong defensive organisation, and an ability to build competitive teams capable of challenging above expectations.

His appointment marks another managerial change for Nottingham Forest, with Glasner becoming the club’s fifth head coach in fewer than 12 months. Forest’s hierarchy believes his experience in European competition and the Premier League can provide greater stability while helping shape the squad through the upcoming transfer window.

The agreement signals Forest’s ambition to establish a long-term project under an experienced manager with a proven track record of success.
