Rivers United head coach Finidi George has expressed confidence that his players will be fully prepared for Thursday’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Seven clash against Shooting Stars despite their demanding travel schedule.
The Port Harcourt-based side endured a lengthy journey to Katsina, where they battled to a goalless draw with Katsina United last weekend. Softfootball highlighted that Finidi stressed the importance of proper recovery and squad management as his team prepares for another crucial league fixture.

The former Super Eagles winger explained that the technical crew would carefully monitor the players’ recovery after spending two days on the road, noting that managing fatigue will be key to ensuring the squad is physically and mentally ready for the challenge against Shooting Stars.
Finidi also reflected on Rivers United’s performance against Katsina United, insisting his team deserved more than the single point they eventually earned. He believed his side created enough opportunities, particularly in the opening half, to score at least twice but failed to convert their chances.
According to the Rivers United boss, the hosts responded strongly after the break and piled pressure on his side, although his players remained disciplined defensively while still creating another clear opportunity through Kabir, whose effort narrowly failed to find the back of the net.
Despite admitting he would have preferred all three points, Finidi expressed satisfaction with securing a draw away from home, describing Katsina as one of the league’s toughest venues. He maintained that his players showed resilience under difficult conditions, including the intense weather, to leave with a valuable point.
With attention now shifting to the encounter against Shooting Stars, Rivers United will be aiming to return to winning ways and strengthen their position in the NPFL standings. Finidi remains optimistic his side will recover in time and deliver another competitive performance in front of their home supporters.
