Bruno Onyemaechi has expressed frustration over Libya’s time-wasting tactics during Friday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria in Uyo.
Softfootball said the Super Eagles had to remain patient and focused before finally breaking down the Libyan defence late in the game.
Nigeria secured a deserved 1-0 victory in the Group D matchday three encounter, thanks to a late goal from substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

Before the goal, the Super Eagles were forced to deal with Libya’s repeated delay tactics, as the visitors often went down easily after challenges in an attempt to slow the game.
Reacting after the match, Onyemaechi joked that CAF should give Libya an award for wasting time.
The left-back also described the victory as an important result for the Super Eagles as they continue their push for qualification.
The win kept Nigeria top of Group D with seven points from three matches. The Super Eagles have also scored four goals in the campaign without conceding any.
Libya remain bottom of the group with just one point and are still searching for their first win of the qualifiers.
In the group’s other fixture, Benin Republic defeated Rwanda 3-0 to move onto six points and keep pressure on Nigeria at the top.
Onyemaechi and his teammates will now shift focus to the return leg against Libya in Benghazi on Tuesday, October 15.
The Super Eagles will be hoping to complete the double over the Mediterranean Knights and move closer to securing their place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
