The Super Eagles held their first training session in Lisbon on Thursday as preparations intensified for their international friendly against Portugal next Wednesday.

There was a major boost for head coach Eric Chelle, as Alex Iwobi rejoined the squad after serving his suspension. The midfielder missed Nigeria’s 2–2 draw against Poland in Warsaw due to the red card he received in the Super Eagles’ 2–2 draw against Jordan. He is now back in full training and available for selection.
Softfootball gathered, Samuel Chukwueze also took part in the session after linking up with the team in camp. The winger, who recently attended the burial of his mother, has now resumed international duty. Chukwueze appeared in high spirits, sharing jokes with teammates and bringing positive energy to the camp as he settled back into the squad.
Chelle wasted no time getting to work following the team’s arrival in Portugal on Wednesday. The coach was actively involved on the pitch alongside his backroom staff as the players went through a light recovery session focused on stretching, fitness work and ball drills designed to shake off travel fatigue.
Nigeria will face Portugal in Leiria next Wednesday, a fixture expected to provide a stern test for the three‑time African champions as they continue preparations for future competitive assignments.
