Real Madrid CF’s Electoral Board has released an official statement addressing complaints raised by presidential challenger Enrique Riquelme ahead of the club’s elections scheduled for June 7, 2026, Softfootball reports.
The statement was published through the club’s official English X account shortly after Real Madrid officially confirmed the valid candidacies for the upcoming vote, with incumbent president Florentino Pérez and Riquelme set to contest the election.
According to the Electoral Board, no candidate was granted access to the club’s electoral census, directly responding to allegations suggesting preferential treatment toward Pérez’s candidacy.
The board stated that all candidates were given identical written procedures regarding campaign materials and member communications, while also confirming that Riquelme had been personally briefed on the process.

The statement additionally addressed concerns surrounding postal voting security after debates intensified among supporters online.

The board stressed that all procedures are being carried out in strict compliance with club regulations and Spanish electoral rules. It also revealed that representatives from the candidates are permitted continuous monitoring access near the custody area where postal votes are handled, in an effort to ensure transparency throughout the election process.
Fan reaction across social media has largely favoured Pérez, with many supporters dismissing Riquelme’s accusations and backing the long-serving president to continue his leadership at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Away from the elections, Real Madrid remain active in the transfer market. Reports indicate Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté is in advanced talks over a future move to Madrid once his contract expires. Meanwhile, Los Blancos have reportedly completed an agreement to sign Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries after deciding to trigger his €20 million release clause, with medical tests and final formalities now pending.
