Softfootball can confirm Thomas Tuchel has reportedly started informing players of his decisions ahead of naming England’s final World Cup squad, with several high-profile omissions expected as preparations intensify for the 2026 tournament.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his x handle, Phil Foden and Luke Shaw are among the players expected to miss out, while Fikayo Tomori is also understood to be outside the final plans. Noni Madueke is being strongly linked with inclusion in the squad.

Tuchel reportedly began making difficult calls before contacting the players selected for the final group, with the England boss placing emphasis on current form, tactical balance and tournament readiness.

Foden’s omission would be particularly notable after Tuchel previously warned that the midfielder’s place was not guaranteed despite strong training performances, citing a lack of impact in recent England appearances.

The news arrives as international attention continues to build ahead of the World Cup, with Egypt national football team already confirming a squad that includes Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush.

Elsewhere, Xabi Alonso has recently highlighted players such as João Pedro, Enzo Fernández and Marc Cucurella as talents likely to attract major interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.

The expected England decisions have already triggered strong reactions online, with debate building around whether Tuchel’s bold calls will strengthen the Three Lions or leave out proven tournament performers.
