Heartbreak for Tottenham as Xavi Simons Suffers ACL Blow

Xavi Simons has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious ACL injury while playing for Tottenham Hotspur, in a devastating blow to both club and country.

The Netherlands international was stretchered off during Spurs’ 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers after a collision with Hugo Bueno. Although he initially tried to continue, the 23-year-old collapsed again, raising immediate concerns that have now been confirmed.

According to Fabrizio Romano on his X handle, Simons has torn his anterior cruciate ligament and is expected to be sidelined until 2027. The midfielder later admitted he is “heartbroken” after also being ruled out of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.

Romano stated:

Softfootball gathered that The injury comes at a critical time for Tottenham, who are currently 18th in the Premier League, just two points from safety with four games remaining in their fight for survival.

Simons, who joined Spurs from RB Leipzig in August 2025 on a five-year deal, had been a key figure in their campaign.

His absence leaves a significant void as Tottenham battle to avoid relegation in the final stretch of the season.
