Softfootball can confirm UEFA have officially rejected FC Barcelona’s complaint regarding refereeing decisions in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Atlético Madrid, declaring the protest “inadmissible”.
The decision comes shortly after Barcelona’s strong response on the pitch, as they secured a convincing 4–1 victory over RCD Espanyol in La Liga. Ferran Torres starred with a brace, while Lamine Yamal added another in a dominant display.
According to Fabrizio Romano via his x handle, The complaint, submitted on April 13, followed the first-leg encounter on April 8, where Barcelona raised concerns over a controversial incident in the 54th minute, claiming a handball inside the box was ignored without VAR intervention.

Following Champions League quarter-final first leg played on Wednesday 8 April 2026 between FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid, Barcelona filed a protest relating to a referee decision — on 13 April 2026, the UEFA Control Ethics and Disciplinary Body declared the protest to be inadmissible.

UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has now ruled that the protest does not meet the criteria for further action, effectively closing the case.
