Bruno Guimarães will not have a release clause facilitating a summer exit from Newcastle United, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle. The midfielder’s previously reported £100 million clause expired in June 2024, meaning any potential transfer in 2026 will require direct negotiations with the club.

Romano revealed:

No release clause is included into Bruno Guimarães deal at Newcastle for this summer. £100m clause expired in June 2024, no longer valid. Any deal would take a negotiation with #NUFC amid links of recent days.

Softfootball understands that this development significantly strengthens Newcastle’s position amid growing interest from Manchester United, who are reportedly in advanced discussions and view the Brazilian as a key midfield addition. Veteran midfielder Casemiro is also believed to have endorsed the move, further fueling speculation.

Guimarães’ importance to Newcastle remains undeniable. Despite recently suffering a hamstring injury during a 2–1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on February 11, 2026, he has continued his recovery and even traveled with the squad for their UEFA Champions League clash against Barcelona, although he did not feature.

With 8 goals and 7 assists in the 2025/26 season, Guimarães has elevated his value, giving Newcastle the leverage to demand a fee in the region of €75–92 million. Interest from clubs like Paris Saint-Germain could further complicate negotiations.

As a result, Newcastle remain in control of the situation, with any deal likely to depend on firm offers rather than fixed clauses
