Pep Guardiola has dismissed speculation surrounding his potential departure from Manchester City, reaffirming his commitment to the club despite ongoing scrutiny over his long-term future.

In comments shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle, Guardiola joked about external pressure to be “fired,” underlining his relaxed stance on the situation.

Earlier this week, Guardiola rejected claims that City’s title defence was over following a 1–1 draw with West Ham United on March 14, 2026. When questioned about suggestions that the race could be slipping away, he insisted it remains open, emphasizing that his side is still very much in contention.

Softfootball understands that his recent remarks came during a recent press conference which reflects on the continued narrative surrounding his tenure, particularly regarding his record in the UEFA Champions League, where he has secured just one title with City.

Romano reported:

Pep Guardiola on potentially leaving Man City with just one UCL title: “Oh, everybody wants to fire me, right?!”. “One day I will come here and say: Bye bye, guys! And still I’m here, one more year of contract…”, says via @City_Xtra.

Since his arrival in 2016, Guardiola has overseen a period of domestic dominance, winning six Premier League titles and transforming the club into one of Europe’s most consistent performers. However, expectations remain high, especially in continental competitions.

With one year left on his contract, Guardiola’s latest comments signal stability at the club, as he remains focused on navigating the challenges of the 2025–26 campaign.
