The viral saga of Frank Ilett, the Manchester United supporter who vowed not to cut his hair until the club wins five matches in a row, has continued to capture attention online as his unusual challenge stretches on.
Ilett’s challenge has now reached more than 494 days without a haircut, turning his personal bet into a viral internet story among football fans. However, the latest draw means the streak has reset once again, forcing the fan to start counting victories from zero.
For Ilett to finally visit the barber, Manchester United must now win five consecutive games against the following opponents: Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Leeds United, Chelsea, and Brentford

The internet quickly reacted to the latest twist in the story.
Popular X personality TheFootyOracle mocked the challenge and Manchester United’s form, writing:
“This brother is going to grow dreadlocks down to his ankles. You are tying your personal grooming to a team whose transition engine buffers every 45 minutes! Manchester United cannot string three passes together without leaking oil, and you want them to win five straight matches?”
The comment quickly gained attention online, reflecting the frustration and humor among fans regarding Manchester United’s current form.

The reason for the reset was a wild 4–4 draw at Old Trafford, where Bournemouth repeatedly fought back despite United taking the lead three different times.
Goals from Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Højlund helped United edge ahead during the match, but Bournemouth refused to collapse and eventually scored a late equaliser to stun the home crowd.

However, Manchester United responded strongly in their next outing as Bruno Fernandes inspired the team to a 4–1 victory over Wolves, with the captain playing a decisive role in the win while Wolves’ struggles continued to deepen.
Softfootball reported that the match highlighted Manchester United’s ongoing defensive problems, with the team conceding four goals at home to a mid-table opponent, a result that further damages manager Michael Carrick’s hopes of finishing in the Premier League’s top four.
