Zamalek media coordinator Ahmed Shawky has confirmed that the Egyptian club are in talks over a possible move for Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos.
Softfootball annouced Ramos recently confirmed his exit from Monterrey, leaving his future wide open as clubs continue to monitor his next move. The development has added more attention to Zamalek’s interest, with the club exploring the possibility of bringing the veteran defender to Egypt.

Ramos, who previously enjoyed a legendary career with Real Madrid and Spain, is currently available after leaving Sevilla in the summer. The former Spanish international remains one of the most decorated defenders in football history.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN, Shawky revealed that some agents and mediators presented the opportunity to Zamalek, although no agreement has been reached yet.
Some agents and mediators offered the opportunity. Sergio Ramos is of course a great player who won everything with Real Madrid and Spain. He would be a huge player for any team in the Middle East or Africa,
Shawky said.
However, he admitted that the deal would not be easy because of Ramos’ financial demands. Shawky also pointed out that Zamalek have already strengthened their defence by signing other centre-backs.
There is nothing concrete so far, and the player is highly valued financially. We also have to remember that Zamalek have recently signed other centre-backs,
he added.
Despite the challenges, Shawky believes signing Ramos would be a major statement for both Zamalek and Egyptian football.
It would be a huge boost for Egyptian football, more prestige for Zamalek and the league,
he said.
For now, talks remain at an early stage, but Ramos’ availability has made him one of the most interesting names on the market.
