Brighton and Hove Albion manager Fabian Hürzeler has confirmed that Zadok Yohanna has been ruled out of the Nigerian Super Eagles squad for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, adding another major setback to Nigeria’s preparations.

The 19‑year‑old, who joined Brighton in June 2026 from AIK Stockholm on a contract running until June 2031, is not expected to return until after the September international break.

Hürzeler stated:

He won’t be available before the international break. We have to be patient with him and make sure he returns fully fit.

Yohanna now joins the growing list of injured Super Eagles players who will not feature in the qualifiers, including Paul Onuachu, Tochukwu Nnadi, and Victor Osimhen, all of whom are likely to miss the start of the campaign.
