A personal statement from Lamine Yamal has been shared by transfer journaist Fabrizio Romano on his official X account after the Barcelona star suffered a left hamstring injury during Barcelona’s win over RC Celta de Vigo.
As earlier reported by Softfootball, the setback has ruled the 18-year-old out for the remainder of Barcelona’s 2025/26 season, ending his domestic campaign at a crucial stage of the title race. It follows the injury he sustained shortly after scoring the decisive penalty in the match.
In his message, Yamal admitted the timing of the injury was especially painful because it means missing moments where he most wanted to help the team. Despite the disappointment, he expressed full confidence in his teammates and described the setback as “just a pause” before returning stronger next season.
Romano shared:
Lamine Yamal statement. This injury leaves me off the pitch at the moment I wanted to be there the most, and it hurts more than I can explain. It hurts not being able to fight alongside my teammates, not being able to help when the team needs me. But I believe in them and I know they’re going to give their all in every match. I’ll be there, even if it’s from the outside, supporting, cheering and pushing like one more. This isn’t the end, it’s just a pause. I’ll come back stronger, with more desire than ever, and next season will be better. Thank you for the messages and Visca el Barça.

Barcelona’s medical staff have recommended conservative treatment rather than surgery, with the expectation that the winger will recover fully in time to join the Spain national football team squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 this summer.
The injury interrupts another remarkable season for Yamal, who continues to be viewed as one of world football’s brightest young talents after already collecting major recognition this year.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have also suffered another major setback after young midfielder Juan Hernández was ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.

The 18-year-old has been diagnosed with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, adding to the club’s growing list of absentees during a demanding final stretch of the campaign.
With two promising teenagers now sidelined, Barcelona must navigate the closing weeks without key young options while supporters await their recovery ahead of next season.
