Freddie Woodman and Kieran Morrison are both in line to make their Liverpool debuts when the Reds host Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup fourth round at Anfield today.
With Alisson Becker still sidelined through injury and Giorgi Mamardashvili given a rest, Woodman, who actually came through the Crystal Palace academy, will finally get his first Liverpool start. The 28-year-old, signed from Preston North End during the summer, called it a special moment to wear the Liverpool shirt, especially against the club he supported growing up in a previous interview reported by Softfootball.

Teenager Kieran Morrison also gets his big chance. The 19-year-old starts in the midfield pivot alongside Alexis Mac Allister and he will be aiming to make an impact today. Liverpool made the announcement of the two players starting in a post made via the team’s official X account.

Manager Arne Slot has made ten changes from the 3–2 defeat to Brentford at the weekend, opting to hand minutes to some of his young and fringe players.
Liverpool starting XI:
Woodman; Ramsay, Gomez, Robertson, Kerkez; Endo, Mac Allister; Morrison, Nyoni, Ngumoha; Chiesa.
While the focus will be on the two debutants, there’s no denying the pressure on the team. Liverpool have lost five of their last six matches, and the mood around Anfield has been uneasy. Slot will be hoping this reshuffled side can spark a response and maybe, just maybe, start turning things around.
