Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha has once again described teammate Nuno Mendes as the best left-back in the world ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on November 4, 2025. Speaking in a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account, the Portuguese playmaker said Mendes is in incredible form and makes the game so much easier for midfielders like him.

The comment came after PSG’s dominant 7-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, as reported by SoftFootball, which showed the French champions’ ruthless edge in Europe this season. Vitinha also touched on the upcoming duel between Mendes and Bayern’s Michael Olise, saying both players are great talents but expressing full confidence in his compatriot. He said:
For me, Nuno Mendes is the best left back in the world.

The duo’s connection runs deep, extending to the Portugal national team, where they both starred in the Nations League and earned praise from fans and media alike. Their chemistry has been key to PSG’s balance this season. The duo also made their way into the recent star-studded 2025 FIFPRO Men’s World 11, as reported by SoftFootball.

At just 23, Mendes has had an extraordinary 2024–25 campaign. He played a major role in PSG’s historic treble — Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and the UEFA Champions League — before lifting the UEFA Nations League with Portugal. In total, he contributed six goals and six assists in 49 matches, including standout displays in Europe.

In June, Portugal coach Roberto Martínez joined in calling Mendes the best left-back in the world, praising his speed, timing, and defensive discipline. Media outlets and fans have echoed those sentiments, with many suggesting Mendes has redefined the modern full-back role. From neutralising elite wingers to creating attacking chances, his consistency and maturity have set a new standard in world football.
