Ruud van Nistelrooy is on the verge of becoming Wilfred Ndidi’s new manager, with the Manchester United legend expected to accept an offer to take charge of struggling Leicester City, Softfootball reports.
Van Nistelrooy could be in the dugout as soon as this weekend’s game against Brentford, with his appointment expected to be confirmed quickly despite the Dutchman currently being at home in the Netherlands.
Leicester had also considered former Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac and current West Brom manager Carlos Corberan for the role, but have now settled on Van Nistelrooy as their preferred candidate for the job, a decision taken personally by club owner Aiyawatt Shrivadhannaprabha.
The former Real Madrid striker previously managed PSV Eindhoven and has been assistant, then interim head coach, at Manchester United this year, twice beating Leicester during that spell, 5-2 in the Carabao Cup and 3-0 in the Premier League, both at Old Trafford, before his exit following Ruben Amorim’s arrival
