England boss Thomas Tuchel was pleased with his side’s 2-0 win over Andorra at Villa Park but admitted the Three Lions could have been far more clinical in front of goal on the night. The result kept England perfect in their World Cup qualifying campaign, cementing their position the top of Group K.
Softfootball understands that Tuchel was particularly encouraged by the energy and control his players showed but stressed the importance of turning dominance into goals. the coach pointed out that although the performance was positive, his side must find sharper ways to kill off matches earlier.

Speaking to the English media after the game against Andorra via the national team website, the England manager had this to say:
It’s a very different crowd to the Premier League and we know it,
I think the energy was right, the quality was there and we should’ve scored more. After the first goal, we had ten or 15 minutes with too many ball losses.
We lost a bit of focus and concentration but second half, found it again and created a lot of chances and like I said, should’ve scored more.
I think we missed a little bit the little moments to accelerate the game. We should’ve scored maybe the second one earlier because the second goal gave us a lot of freedom and players moved more freely and a bit more confident.
Tuchel also took time to praise debutant Elliot Anderson, who impressed in his senior bow. The Nottingham Forest midfielder looked calm in possession, and the manager suggested there is every chance he could feature again when England travel to Belgrade. the England manager could see Anderson as a long-term option in midfield if he continues developing with confidence.
England Football posted after the game on its official X handle page an exclusive video of Thomas Tuchel presenting debutant Elliot Anderson with the England Legacy cap, which is always presented to every England player making his first senior appearance for the country, Watch below;
Noni Madueke was another player who drew positive words from the head coach. Tuchel pointed out the Chelsea winger’s growing maturity, stating his four goal involvements in his last eight appearances for the three lions. With Bukayo Saka currently sidelined, Madueke has stepped up in his absence, showing that he is worthy of becoming an important attacking player for the national team.
Tuchel noted the importance of Tuesday’s clash against Serbia. He knows that the fixture will bring a completely different challenge than what they have faced up until now, with Serbia leanibg towards a more physical style of play and also the intensity of an away atmosphere.
For Tuchel and other English fans, that match could define England’s WCQ campaign, which has emphasised the need for focus, preparation, and resilience in Belgrade.
