PSG had missed the chance to add the FIFA Club World Cup trophy to their recently filled cabinet as they lost to Chelsea in the finals in New York 3-0. They now have a chance to round up the European trophy counts with the Super Cup.

Mendes was direct in his words as he spoke the club’s media ahead of the game. The Portuguese said:

“We know that last season was very long. We tried to do our best to be in the best possible physical condition for tomorrow. We know it’s going to be difficult, facing a great team. We’re going to focus on ourselves and try to play our game, that’s our goal.

We’re coming back from holidays, but we’re trying to focus as much as possible on this match. We know we’re not yet in peak physical condition, but we really want to win this match.”

Mendes also shared thoughts on the club’s new signing. PSG had announced the signing of  Illia Zbarnyi from Bournemouth for $74 million and Lucas Chevalier from Lille for $47 million.

Mendes said:

“Lucas Chevalier and Illia Zabarnyi? I think they’re good. They’re happy, they’re smiling, and they started training before us. I’m sure they will help us a lot throughout the season.”

PSG face Tottenham at the Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy for a chance for the season’s first silverware.
