Former Super Eagles defender Taye Taiwo has received another major recognition after Olympique Marseille inducted him into the club’s prestigious Legends Club, celebrating his outstanding contribution during one of the most successful periods in the French side’s history.
Softfootball reports the Ligue 1 giants announced the honour through their official social media channels.
Taiwo enjoyed a memorable six-year spell at Marseille between 2005 and 2011, establishing himself as one of the club’s most reliable and attacking full-backs. During his time at the Stade Vélodrome, he played a key role in helping the club secure the Ligue 1 title, French League Cup and French Super Cup.
The Nigerian international made 271 appearances for Marseille, scoring 25 goals and providing 23 assists, remarkable numbers for a defender. His powerful left foot, long-range strikes and consistency made him a fan favourite throughout his stay.
Taiwo also remains one of only a handful of Nigerians to represent Marseille, alongside Wilson Oruma, Joseph Yobo and Victor Agali. The induction serves as further recognition of his lasting legacy and the impact he made before leaving to join AC Milan in 2011.
