Former Nigeria international Taye Taiwo has urged Lazio to make Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s loan move permanent after the midfielder continued his impressive form with a goal in Saturday’s 1-1 Serie A draw against Atalanta.

The Super Eagles midfielder joined the Italian club on a season-long loan from Turkish side Hatayspor and has quickly established himself as an important player in Marco Baroni’s squad. Softfootball understands Dele-Bashiru has now registered five goal contributions in 13 appearances since arriving in Rome.

Taiwo believes Lazio would benefit from securing the 24-year-old’s long-term future, insisting the move would also be positive for both the player and his parent club.

He said:

I would prefer him to sign permanently for Lazio because the stage is much more prestigious. He has already proved his worth since his arrival, with five goal contributions in 13 games for a midfielder.

The former Super Eagles defender added:

This represents a great opportunity for Dele-Bashiru, Lazio, and Hatayspor.
