Softfootball reports that the Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat, Morocco, and you can almost feel the tension following them around. They’re gearing up for the all-important 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification playoff final against DR Congo today, and honestly, it’s one of those games where the whole continent seems to be watching with half-held breath.
Nigeria only got here after that chaotic, almost exhausting 4–1 extra-time win over Gabon, a match Victor Osimhen basically dragged over the line with his brace. Head coach Eric Chelle has gone with a strong-looking squad again, sticking with Wilfred Ndidi, Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, and of course Osimhen up front. Frank Onyeka is back too, expected to help tighten the midfield a bit more, which Nigeria honestly needs sometimes.

DR Congo aren’t coming to Rabat to just make up numbers either. They got through after a dramatic 91st-minute winner against Cameroon, the kind of goal that flips a whole team’s confidence switch. Captain Chancel Mbemba leads a side that also has Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Axel Tuanzebe, both former Manchester United defenders, giving them some real backbone at the back. They’re usually well-organised, sometimes too stubborn to break down.
Inside the stadium, the atmosphere is already buzzing, kind of loud and tense at the same time. Fans from both countries have turned the place into a noisy mix of drums, flags, and that slightly nervous excitement football always brings. Morocco is just hosting as a neutral ground, but they’ve handled CAF’s setup smoothly enough.

On paper, Nigeria are the slight favourites, mostly because of their firepower, but DR Congo’s discipline and momentum lately makes this feel far from predictable. Whoever wins goes into the intercontinental playoffs, joining Bolivia, New Caledonia, and teams still battling through in Asia and CONCACAF.
It’s one of those matches where anything can happen, honestly, and the Super Eagles know they’ll have to fight for every inch.
