Super Eagles Emmanuel Fernandez Wins Rangers Player of the Year Award

Softfootball can confirm Emmanuel Fernandez has been named Men’s Player of the Year at Rangers FC for the 2025/26 season, capping off an impressive debut campaign in Scotland.

The 24-year-old centre-back claimed the award following a fan vote and was congratulated by the super eagles on thier official x handle, earning the top honour at the club’s awards gala on Sunday night.

The Super Eagles defender delivered standout performances throughout the season, contributing five goals in 23 league appearances while playing a key role in securing 12 clean sheets.

Fernandez, who previously played for Peterborough United, has quickly established himself as a vital figure in Glasgow despite a challenging season for the club. His performances have also attracted growing interest from top European sides.

On the international stage, Fernandez recently made his debut for Nigeria at a four-nation invitational tournament in Turkey, scoring once in two appearances. He is expected to be part of the squad for the upcoming Unity Cup in London later in May.

Elsewhere, Nigeria’s beach soccer team is preparing for the International Cup, where they will face Ghana national beach soccer team, England national beach soccer team, and Germany national beach soccer team.

In another development, Confederation of African Football has confirmed that Ghana will host the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, further strengthening its status as a key football hub on the continent.
