Softfootball understands that Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has rallied his squad ahead of Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Turkey, stressing that the team must keep improving as their campaign continues.
The Spanish delegation arrived at Konya Airport on Friday evening, fresh from a 3-0 victory over Bulgaria in Sofia. That result, which featured goals from Mikel Merino and others, gave the reigning European champions a confident start to the qualifying phase.
As released on the National Team website, Coach Luis de la Fuente is optimistic his boys, who are “insatiable,” will get maximum points against Turkey despite the odds being stacked against the Spanish side.

As reported by the website, Luis de la Fuente, speaking about his players, said:
I have the luck, pride, and privilege to coach, in my opinion, the best footballers in the world. There are many areas we need to improve to keep progressing.
We have many players who are at the level of the best in the world. In addition, young players eager to make history with this national team are joining. We are very demanding, and the players are, from a sporting perspective, insatiable.
He continued by saying:
We’re expecting the kind of atmosphere this game deserves. The Turkish fans always back their team hard, so it’ll be loud, tense, and special. But this squad is built for nights like that.
The coach also underlined the importance of returning key players to action, with Dani Carvajal and Rodrigo featuring again. The duo of Rodri and Carvajal came on as substitutes in the 62nd minute for Martin Zubimendi and Pedri Porro, respectively.
He added:
The most important news is that they are here and have returned to stay. We aim for them to continue growing and evolving so they can accumulate games and regain their best form.
Spain will be facing Turkey for the fourth time, with the La Roja having stayed unbeaten against their opponent in their last three meetings. Their last meeting was at the Euros in 2016, and it ended 3-0 in favour of Spain.
