Sevilla have confirmed that Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during Sunday’s LaLiga clash against Barcelona, Softfootball reports.
The Super Eagles star was forced off before half-time in Sevilla’s defeat to Barcelona at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys after pulling up with what initially looked like a muscle problem. Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga replaced him as Sevilla reshuffled their lineup.

Softfootball gathered that medical examinations carried out after the game confirmed the extent of the injury, with the Spanish club revealing that Ejuke sustained a high-grade hamstring injury that is expected to keep him out of action for around three months.
In an official statement, Sevilla also confirmed that Spanish forward Suso suffered a low-grade thigh injury during the same period.
The club wrote: “Ejuke has suffered a high-grade hamstring injury while Suso has suffered a low-grade thigh injury. Come back stronger, lads.”
The injury comes as a significant setback for both Sevilla and the Nigerian international, who had started adapting well to life in Spain following his arrival. Ejuke had become one of the club’s most exciting attacking outlets, using his pace and dribbling ability to trouble opposition defences.
The 25-year-old has made nine LaLiga appearances this season, scoring one goal while steadily cementing his place in the squad.
With Ejuke now facing an extended recovery period, Sevilla will be hoping he returns fully fit before the crucial final months of the campaign. His absence will also be a concern for Nigeria, as the Super Eagles could be without one of their key attacking options during upcoming international fixtures if his rehabilitation takes longer than expected.
